History of GASW
The Greater Austin Social Workers (GASW) group originally started in 1989 as the Long Term Care Social Workers’ Committee (LTCSWC) of Central Texas (although 'Central Texas' was eventually dropped). The name later changed to the Austin Area Medical Social Work Committee (AAMSWC), which remained the name until 2014 when it was changed one last time to Greater Austin Social Workers. As of November 2014, GASW officially became a non-profit organization and was granted 501(c)(3) status.
The meetings have always (and will always) be held on the 3rd Friday of every month.
