Ariel Rosenbaum, LCSW-S - President

Ariel Rosenbaum, LCSW-S, is a geriatric care leader with a background in social work and gerontology. She holds degrees from Georgia State University and the University of Georgia.
She founded Texas Family Services (2010) and Senior Services of Austin (2013), co-founded Practical Care Continuum (2020), and co-founded Agensy.com (2024). Together, these organizations provide families with comprehensive, compassionate support across the aging care continuum.

Marissa Bortenstein, LCSW-S - Vice President

Originally from the DFW area but Marissa has called Austin home since 2012. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of North Texas as well as a MSSW from The University of Texas at Austin.  Most of Marissa's career has been spent working as a medical social worker in hospice, home health and skilled nursing facilities. Furthering her love for working with older adults, she began her private practice in 2019 focusing on bringing therapeutic care and support to older adults and adults suffering with chronic illness. Marissa is EMDR certified and a board approved LCSW-S supervisor. The majority of her work focuses on trauma, chronic illness, aging, life transitions and grief/loss. When she is not working she loves spending time in Far West Texas, curling up with a good book, traveling and spending quality time with friends, her husband and their dog, Peanut Butter.

Erica Schmidt, LCSW-S - Treasurer/Secretary

Erica is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Supervisor who holds a bachelor’s degree in Plan I Honors from The University of Texas at Austin. She also earned a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin, where she received specialized training in gerontology through the Gerontology Resources and the Aging Community in Education (GRACE) program. With experience in both outpatient and inpatient hospice care, as well as social services within a continuum of care senior living community, she is well-educated and well-resourced to support older adults in the Greater Austin area.

Claudia Reyes, LMSW - Speaker Chair

Claudia is the Case Manager at the Round Rock Area Serving Center and has been in her position since October 24, 2022.  She loves talking with clients at the center and listening to their stories. Claudia graduated from Texas State University with a Masters in Social Work in December 2019. She completed her internship at Dell Children’s Medical Center.  Prior to that, she worked in different non-profits in the Central Texas area including Bluebonnet Trails,  The Arc of the Capital Area and It’s Time Texas. She also spent over 8 years working at DFPS as a case worker and supervisor for Child Protective Services. 
Claudia grew up in Venezuela and has lived in Texas since 2001.  She currently lives in Leander with her husband, mother and 2 young children.  Claudia loves spending time with her family, traveling and working out at the local YMCA.

Ryn Scull, LCSW - Speaker Chair

Ryn Scull, LCSW currently works as a hospice social worker and has a private practice on the side. Her private practice is Reset & Rewire Therapy, serving both couples & individuals in their quest to find their confidence, improve communication skills, and work towards their goals for a more full & healed life. Ryn has been a member of GASW since 2018 and enjoys her community with fellow social workers.

Victoria Ortiz, LCSW-S - Social Media Chair

​I am a LCSW-S with over eight years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based care to adults 18 and older. I specialize in supporting individuals in private practice who are navigating trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Currently, I am working in a macro setting providing planning guidance on mass violence events to local mental health authorities throughout the state.
